真心請教, 買ipad帶來的法律問題.

在CL上買了一個舊的ipad. 之後去apple申請ID, 建帳戶,下軟件。沒多久, a detective聯係我， 說這個ipad是別人丟的。apple把我所有的賬戶/下載信息都給了這個detective. 所以就找到了我。

 

幸運的是我保留了賣給我ipad的人（AAA）的聯係信息， 並交給了detective。這樣我被排除了嫌疑。不過ipad被迫上交警察，得到了一個收據。AAA被調查。detective 發現AAA也不是嫌疑人。AAA是從其他人那裏買的這個ipad，之後才賣給我。

 

我問detective怎樣才能彌補我的損失。這是他的回複：

"The case did come up and they (states attorney) dropped the charges against the guy (AAA) who sold you the IPad. After further investigation it was revealed he was not involved in the burglaries in my area but knew one of the guys involved.  The states attorney advised that you could possibly sue the guy (AAA) if you chose to but according to him, he didn't know the IPad was stolen (even though the deal he got on the IPad was to good to be true, he brought it for $XXX and then flipped it and sold it to you for I think $XXX)"

從來沒在美國打過官司. 真心請教. 如果可能，請給一些具體建議. 多謝了!
