Registered agent

A friend of mine asked me to be his registered agent for renting his house in Arizona. He is not living in AZ and is renting his house to his friend. The state of government asked him to find a person or a party in AZ as his registered agent．If I accept this, what legal responsibilities should I expect? Any insights will be highly appreciated.
