請教老貓 or other helpers - not paid by previous employer


(Sorry for inconvenience to type in Chinese).

I received a notice of bonus awarded for my previous fiscal year's performance from the compay on july 1st. (My job offer indicated that i would have bonus accoridng to my performance and company's year's revenue.). The notice in writing says july 19th is the bonus pay day.

On july 3rd, I gave a leave notice to the company, and I left on july 17th.

On july 19th, the company paid out bonus to all its employees except me.

The HR gave reason is that I was not employed on July 19th, while bonus was paid only to employed persons for a pevious practice. However, the HR manager agreed that there was no official, documented policy that bonus is paid only to employed persons; and from july 1st to July 17th, I met Project Managers and the HR manager - no one reminded me or warned me of taking the bonus back.

(It seems that a cheque of bonus to me was called to stop cashing, after I had done service and left the company).

Do you think I can get it back? What solution can I take if yes? (I am in Canada).
