ask 單身老貓 and other experts, what kind of lawyer I should look fo

The contractor I hired cheated $9000 from me without work done. I am trying to sue him. What kinds of lawyer I should look for? for exameple, contract law or labor law, etc.. I don't know too much about law and couldn't find the right lawyer. Also how to find a suitable lawyer for this case. My friend told me no lawyer will take my case, since the amount I am suing from the contractor is small, only aournd $20k(inlcuding the lost rent, and other fees).
