Matrimonial law varies from state to state. But one thing you can do in all the states is to file for divorce in the court. However, legally you may have to separate for more than a year before filing for divorce, depending upon whether your ground for divorce is solid enough for the court to side with you. But I don't see what difference it makes as far as your personal life is concerned.
