1. Viet Namese Real Estate Agent

One friend wanted to rent his house. He had a real estate agent who is Vietnamese.

One day this real estate agent called him and said “I have a good thing and a bad thing to tell you. I found a perfect tenant for your house. He has stable income. I did the criminal background and credit check, everything is perfect”.

My friend said: “so, why did you say there is a bad thing”. The real estate agent said:

“He has a Bai (Pinying), that could cause damage to the house.”. My friend could not understand what does “Bai” mean, but he knows if he asks what is “Bai”, it will be insulting. Instead, he said “what kind of Bai?”

The real estate agent said: “German Shepherd”. My friend suddenly understood he meant “Pet”, just he could not pronounce it very well. Then the real estate agent said : “ I thought about it. We can ask the tenant to add more money as a “Bai” deposit.

2. A Tourist from an Arab Country

In the Arab language there is no letter “P”, so they pronounce foreign words by substituting “B” for “P”.

One day, an Arab tourist came to visit US. He drove a car to a tourist place, but wasn’t sure if it was legal to park there. He saw a policeman walking by, so he asked the policeman: “ Can I bark here?” The policeman said: “You can bark anywhere, this is a free country”.
