your Japanese debit card, you can get cash from any ATM machine worldwide.

Personally I donot think there is any problem with the ATMs or credit card scanner in USA or other western countries, most of the cases is caused due to the different bank system in Japan.

Sometimes it is really rediculous that the banks in Japan are so cramp. Unbelivable but we really met lots of trouble when travelled in Japan in June.
