  • Part A (Hospital Insurance): Covers inpatient hospital stays, care in a skilled nursing facility, hospice care, and some home health care.
  • Part B (Medical Insurance): Covers certain doctors' services, outpatient care, medical supplies, and preventive services. Together, Parts A and B are known as Original Medicare.
  • Part C (Medicare Advantage): An "all-in-one" alternative to Original Medicare offered by private companies like Aetna or UnitedHealthcare. It bundles Parts A, B, and usually D, often providing extra benefits like vision or dental.
  • Part D (Prescription Drug Coverage): Helps cover the cost of prescription drugs. These plans are run by private insurance companies that follow rules set by Medicare.
