Help on 485 filing

My hu*****and is in New Jersey applying Green Card. I am in Oregon. We will file I-485 and the lawyer said she never met such situation since we are not in the same service center according to our address. Who can tell me how should I do? Thanks a lot! I am very very upset about it since the lawyer is not helpful at all. She said you two discuss it and decide how to do. That is so confusing. If we can discuss and decide, why do we hire a lawyer?!
Please give us some advice if you experienced same situation or know how to deal with it.
