可以在畢業前申請 H1 for POSTDOCTOR？

I may get an offer for a postdoctor. They are going to sponsor me for H1 visa. They want me to go to their site ASAP, then come back to school later to take my final defense. My questions is whether I am eligible to apply for H1 without Ph.D. degree. Thank you very much
