You misunderstood what I meant by "legal status" Legal status is not the same as another visa status. I485 pending is a legal status but not a visa status. That is why I also said she can just wait and do nothing if the hu*****and is a citizen because I485 pending gives her legal status to stay. I suggested she should change to H4 if the spouse is on H1b for the same reason you suggested.
