What happens after H1B expires

5th yr on H1-B, filed for LC pending in Philadelphia Backlog center.
My question is what happens if LC approved and H1-B expires at the 6th yr. If EB3 or EB2 cannot file I140 and I485 concurrently any more, there will be a gap in between. Can my H1-B be continually extended during the period waiting for availability to file I485.
