Thank you for your message! I would give more information here, which might be useful to those who wanna extend/waive J1 visas.

I proposed J1 extension application to the international office on 5/6/2005，but got the new DS2019 on 5/12/2005. At the same time I noticed from the internet my waiver status: 'No objection letter' received on 5/10/2005 and recommendation letter sent on the same day (amazingly too fast!) Of course, the letter has not yet arrived at my hand. So I care: From which date the approval of my J1 waiver becomes valid -- the date on which the recommendation letter was sent or received by myself/international office?

My case seems even more complicated: I was told that the last 6 months can not be extended if I have proposed J1 waiver application (note: only 'application'). The fact is I have already got the extension.
