Parents' visit

My parents just got visa to visit me. The visa is one year with multiple entries. If they're allowed to stay here for 6 months and they stay for 5 months then go back. When they re-enter the States within a year, how long can they stay? Another 6 months or the 1 month left from this visit?

I feel so confused. Please help.
