Then I did not change J1 to H1 immediately after waiver was done. I waited until 3 year J1 was close to end. But you should make sure you could get receipt of H1 application from USCIS just prior to J1 3 years. If not enough, J1 has one more half year that can be utilized. However, if your boss does not like to support you, that is another question. As for F2, theoretically, you could look for job if emplyer is willing to offer you H1.
