yes ,you should pay social security and medicare.becasue social security and medicare only have 5 years exception(no matter what is your status).You came to USA in 1998, so you should pay social security and medicare from 2003, you are lucky ,because you paid from 2004, you saved 1 year money.more detail ,read IRS regulation.
