Unlike the immigration petition, the appeal is a much more complicated case-by-case issue. You don't even know where to find the laws, how can you do better than or as good as the lawyers? If you want to save the money, you'd better save your time and energy also. The probability for you to successfully appeal by yourself is zero.

My opinion: either appeal with a good lawyer, or give up.
