Thank you! So as long as I file the H4 application before my OPT expires, even if H4 is not approved yet when OPT expires, I will be OK. Is that right? Is this also true for H1? That is, I will be good if I file my H1B before OPT expires, even if the H1B is not yet approved when OPT expires?

What would be my status before H1/H4 approval but after OPT expiration? Is this illegal? If so, maybe this is why H4 is safer because it is quicker than H1 (3 to 5 months for H4 comparing to 3 to 8 months for H1), right?
