That means you have been unlawfully present (illegal stay) since the L1 I-94 expired. If your illegal stay is > 180 days or > one year, you will be subjected to 3-year or 10-year bar after you leave US. You should have extended your L1 status or changed your status within US before your I-94 expired. It is too late now and you cannot extend your status in US. If your illegal stay is less than 180 day, you had better leave US as soon as possible. If it is > 180 days, you may continue to stay illegally or leave US. Up to you.
