Change job while I-485 pending

Hi, everyone,
小弟是一個 postdoc in New York area. My I-140 approved (outstanding category, employment-based) and I-485 is pending. Since my boss has no funding soon, I have to hunt for jobs again. Can I look for jobs in California area? If so, any effect on my case? Can I use EAD to work in CA (now I am using H1). Any information will be greatly appreciated.
