My H1B is getting close its 6 years' expiration. If I understand correctly, I have to wait until my I-140 gets approved before I can submit for further exntensin of my H1B. 

but I am still so confused with the whole porcess.

1. If the priority date of my I-140 reciept notice remains blank with a reciept date of Jan.2, does that mean my Prioty Date is Jan. 2? if PD is Jan. 2, does that mean I can submit I-485?

2. How do I know how long I can get with the extension with an approved I-140?
