small loophole: pending H-1B and I-485

Old H-1B is expired, my new H-1B is in time filed and pending.

Now I can submitt I-485 as well as AP.

Assume new H-1B is approved after I-485 filed but before AP, theoretcially I could NOT go to US-Canada border to get new I-94 for new H-1B? Is it right?

What should I do at best?
