Just checked with Company immigration and was told they wanted to wait till they get the original I-140 approval to file for the H-1B 3 year extention. Is that really necessary, or can we use the email notice?

How long does it take to get the original I-140 approval notice. My online approval shows it was approved yesterday Aug 17.

If we don't get the original approval by Aug 24, are we able to use the I-140 email notice as support for the approved I-140 to file for the 3 year H1B extension?
