Anohter passport question

Passport got expired a couple of yours. Received work permit recently. Planing to fly to the Chinese Embassy to do the passport renew with the newly issured work permit. Not sure the embassy will accept it for renewal or not. Anybody can provide me some idea? Thanks a lot!
