我持J1，2010年2月入境，已經延期兩次。visa 已經到期，DS表2011年年底到期。我的服務期目前沒有豁免。孩子J2在這裏讀中學。

1、Visa到期是否影響我轉身份？

-Are you still working for your sponsor/employer? J1 Visa is not equal to your J1 status. if you still work for the sponsor, your J1 status is still valid until 2011年年底到期 even if the J1 visa expired and you do not need to do anything before that day.

2、J1可以在美國直接轉成什麽身份？轉之前是否必須要豁免嗎？

-Noramlly you can not change your status to another non-immigration status within US before you get the j1 waiver, but you can go outside US to get the non-immigraton visa such as F1, B2, etc. without J1 waiver except H1/H4 or L1/L2 visa which need J1 waiver.

3、如果要豁免的話，我的轉身份時間來得及嗎？

-Hard to say how long you will get the j1 waiver.

4、其實最想問的就是我這種情況怎麽做最好？

-You may get the F1 visa outside US if you have enough financial ability to support your study and then, do the J1 waiver some time later.
