PJiang, 863211, H-1B transfer Q

For H1B change of employer, a Starting Date needs to be set when file the LCA and I-129. Is it ok for me to continue working for the current employer beyond that starting date if needed? In other words, when will the H1B with current employer become invalid? Thanks.
