I agree with 863211 except the part if you need to wait till your check is cashed or receive the receipt. You do not need both. Once you file H-1b transfer, you are good to go. Keep a receipt of your mail (I suggest you use either priority or express mail) so that you will be fine. I do not think one week is a gap. I had two week "gap" when my H-1b renewal was in processing. I also continued worked when my H-1b was transferred after filing and before check was cashed and receipt. I submitted all these to USCIS when I filed my 140 and 485 and got no RFE and my GC case was approved real fast!
