H1B effective, 485 pending, using AP to attend conference

My 485 is pending now, and I just renewed my H1B for another 3 years. I don't have EAD. I have to attend a conference in Canada early next year. If I apply for AP, (I need to go to China end of this year using AP) can I use it to make the Canada trip too after I use it to go to China? Will this affect my H1B? Many thanks for anyone's advice in advance.
