The purpose of white I-94 is to show the date of last entrance. There will be a problem if you do not get a new I-94 when you apply green card. In I-140, there will be a question of "Date of last entrance". You need new I-94 to show the last entrance. If you do not have new I-94, your last entrance will be the F2 white I-94, but immigration might have your record to leave US after that date. I heard someone got RFE for not having appropriate I-94. It is not a big deal to surrender the F2 I-94. Just make a photo copy. You still will have an updated white I-94.
