it is not a bad sign. You need to prepare all the documents to approve your legal status in USA from the date you came to USA. I-20, transcript... whatever you can think of, tax, H1B if you are working. I will recommend to have an attorney to be with you if your case is complicated. Normally they will approve your greencard on the site.
