If you have not left US since your first F1 entry (not counting AP travel), it is your obligation to keep all the status proof since your last visa admission. F1 I-94 usually with D/S so I-20 is very important document about your status. Unless the RFE specifically says about golden sheet, it is not that important. Some IOs likes to use color sheet, some IOs don't. The barcode page, the envelope, and colored sheet (if asked) are things that help your response go to your case IO's desk directly without paper travel or re-routing, or even re-assigning (to wrong case officer).
