1. Yes and no. You can let H4 expire and wholly depend on AOS.

2. 320 always. 1500: no if that's the 2nd time the same employer filing extension for you i.e. your 3rd H1 period with the same employer. 500: only needed for initial filing of H1b. No for extension.
