To visit IRS website, it says you could select the form which can help you to get more refund, or pay less tax, when you don't know which is form is suitable for your case. By my experience, this year (2009) tax return, you should submit two forms (Dual status), one is 1040-NR, which gives your tax exemption from Jan to Jun, 2008, the other is 1040 or 1040A,which can help you claim all of the tax benefits,child credit, exemption ($3x3500).
