在國內申請J1要美國這邊的sponsorship嗎？

我一個哥們在國內，美國一很好大學邀請他過來做visiting scholar, 人家問他要不要visa sponsorship, 是不是應該要啊？

這是原話：

I will be your contact person assisting you with all the paperwork for the visiting scholar application.
The first question I have is do you need visa sponsorship? The answer would determine
how we proceed. If you do need visa sponsorship I and the university would assist you.
