PJiang, a question for you about OPT

Hi PJiang, I read your article about OPT from your blog. I have a question.

Last year after I got my job offer, I, as well as my advisor, expected that I could finish my school in Jan 2008. So I applied for my OPT, with start date of Feb 1st. But I could not finish school as I expected. I started my job before my defense. In the mean time, I finished the rest of school work and got my degree certificate in late May.

My OPT and EAD will expire in Jan 2009.

Do you think I can ask to add the two months (Feb, Marh) back? I did not get my H-1B in April, now I have not secured another type of visa. I need more time if I need to look for other non-profit jobs.
