Help: can I file H-1 and O-1 at the same time?

I am out of status now. My advisor in school and company all would like to sponsor me either H-1B or O-1. Can I file them at the same time? I have to go back to China to reapply the visa. If both of them get approved, I can just use one to come back. Thanks.
