I-485 pending, complicated H1b extension after 6 years -- Need h

My 6th year H1b will be expired in April 2009. Can anyone tell me that, with I-485 pending for more than 2 years, how many years I can extend h1b? Can I also extend my child's H4 while he has used EAD on campus employment? Can anyone kindly point me to the right place for information?
