According to my understanding based on the knowledge in WENXUECITY 移民論壇, after using AP for H1B holder, you status becomes AOS, but you can still use H1B to work as long as your H1B is still valid,

my view is that you just request leave with your boss, no nessary to tell your university.

This was what I did.
