Gap in H-1B Transfer, please help!

My current H1-B expires on September 20. Now I found a new job and the application of my H-1B transfer will be sent out in the beginning of September. I was told that I might begin working once the H-1B transfer receipt is received. However, since my current H-1 expires on September 20, there will be gap between September 20 and the start date of my new H-1B because the start date of new H-1B is usually the approval date. I am worried about this. Does anyone have the similar experience? Thank you very much for any help!
