PJ teacher, Xiaobaitu and all teachers--Please help

Hello, Teachers:

I posted yesterday that I was laid off when my I-485 is pending (over 180 days). I have a critical question here:

My last day with current employer was yesterday. My H1-B was in the renewal process. If I find a new job next week, can I do the H1-B transfer or I have to apply for a new H1-B?

I just submitted the EAD application today and might get it in 3 months.

Shall I find a job now or wait till I get the EAD. Thanks
