If you drive your car through the border, it's not necessarily to get your H1B visa stamp on your passport, but you need to take all of your immigration documents if you adjusted your status in USA. Also you'd better take some of your recent pay stubs and W2 if available.

I didn't have any problems to have driven through the border between Vancouver and Blaine, WA for serveral times.
