As I know, one needs to get seperate waivers for different J-1 projects. But I am not sure if you need another waiver for the extension of the same J-1 project or not. Please confirm with Xiaobaitu.

You can get you EAD as long as you I-485 is not denied. They may ask you for REF of new waiver. Good luck.
