No, I got a new one from US Customs at Canada

I flew to Canada, not one checked.

When I went back USA Customs, the officer removed my old I-94. Directed me back to the airline checkin desk to fill in a new one. He stamped the new one. He told me, "next time, hand in old I-94 when you arrive at Canada Customs, and get a new at airline checkin"

But I do not know what would happen when drive through.
