Passed 485 interview 20 months ago, still wait for background ch

it's based on marrriage green card, filed 485 in 2005 and got interview in Mar 2006. The officer told me in interview, everything is okay, just wait for background check to clear.

It's been 20 months now, thinking about hiring a laywer to help.

Any XDJM here has any good suggestion for case like this?
