NO Way to Get Visa to Germany in the US for H1B Visa Holder 回複：H

My own experience to apply visa to Germany as a H1B visa holder: I applied visa in German Consulate in Chicago in May. I was told to go back to China to apply since German Consulate requires visa applicant should have a visa to return to the US with a valid length of no shorter than 3 months! For H1B visa holder from mainland China, the total valid length is exactely 3 months. Even if you get a H1B visa in Canada, when you go back to the US to apply for a visa to Germany, you are not qualified since the H1B valid length will be less than 3 months! So you have to go back to China to apply for a visa to Germany (no requirement for H1B visa any more since you are a citizen of China). This was exactely what I did in this summer.
In summary, for H1B visa holder from mainland China, if you do not have a valid reentry visa back to the US with at least 3 month validity, you will have to go back to China to apply for a visa to Germany!
