Pjiang, please help. Renew AP, should renew H1 or use EAD?

I485 pending since Jan., H1 will expire next May. AP will expire next March, need to renew AP for several oversea trips. Heard that H1 renew will automatically invalidate AP. If it is true, I have to use EAD and not applying H1 renewal to use AP. Please advise
