schedule fingerprint by onesel

Hi, does anybody schedule fingerprint by him/herself and got it done? Or in other words, can one call USCIS and ask for a fingerprint appointment if he/she does not get a notice of such a year after filing I-485? Thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge.
