your 1st H1B is valid 06/1/2005----05/31/2008.

so your wife's H4 is 06/1/2005----05/31/2008.

right now your new H1B (2nd)is valid 10/01/2007---09/30/2010
(or you may get new offer(3rd) next year(Octorber), your new H1B will be valid 10/1/2008---09/30/2011)
whatever any situation occurs,
your wife may not apply her extension until and before 05/31/2008.
