If you are confident about your F1-OPT-H1 path, the timing of immigration petition really doesn't matter if you have your non-immigrant status secured. If still in F1 (including OPT) when 485 is filed, you must not leave USA at all even with AP. If you leave US at all, your F-1 is lost and no basis for F1 to H1 anymore.
