I485 question.

I found out that I was required for "additional evidence" for my I485 case. In the on-line status checking, it states: "On May X, 2004, we mailed a notice requesting additional evidence or information in this case. The notice explains in detail what additional material is needed."

Anybody here had the same experence? What does it mean?
